We are delighted to announce that the Sunday Evening Workshop for RDF19, the 2019 Annual NHS R&D Forum will be presented and facilitated by Jo Hicks from Academi Wales. Following on from the fantastic feedback of the 2018 Sunday Evening Workshop Jo will be back to lead a session called “Applied Positive Psychology: Finding Happiness in the Workplace.”  This session will run from 6pm until 8.15pm and be followed by a Networking Buffet. This session is open to all delegates who book the Full Conference Package.

Finding Happiness in the Workplace 

Session Overview: 

This session explores the application of positive psychology at work. In the practical and interactive session you will learn to use the evidence-based tools of positive psychology in the workplace.  The idea that success flows from happiness is one of the core principles of positive psychology, this session explores how we can create a happier and more successful workplace. 

You will discover: 

  • the one, free, daily activity that can increase productivity by up to 31 per cent while at the same time reducing stress and increasing happiness 
  • why a ‘Growth Mindset’ enables us to give effective feedback that inspires people to achieve their potential 
  • the 2 key ideas in creating new positive behaviours and productive habits that can last a lifetime

Jo Hicks has over 20 years’ experience in Leadership and Organisational Development across both the public and private sectors and is currently Director of Academi Wales. Jo’s responsibilities include developing new and innovative programmes and opportunities that build leadership and organisational development capacity and capability across Welsh public services.

Jo has represented her country at the Young Leaders Forum in Sydney, Australia and at the G20Y Summit in Montreux, Switzerland. Jo is an accredited 360º, mental toughness and emotional intelligence feedback coach and is an alumnus of JFK School for Government, Harvard.
